Artist
abriction is a blackgaze / shoegaze solo project from The Bronx, New York, formed in 2020 by American vocalist, composer, and producer Meredith Salvatori (born February 25, 2003). The project is known for fusing ambient, post-rock, and experimental lo-fi production with emotive, harsh vocal textures and atmospheric depth. abriction’s debut full-length, Interstates (2023), established a foundation of textural post-rock and introspective songwriting. Its follow-up, Banshee (2024), released through Repose Records, expanded the sound into a sprawling, genre-fluid statement blending electronic and metal elements. Critics described it as ‘a prime and elegantly executed example of musical synergy’ within experimental blackgaze (Everything Is Noise) and Flood Magazine highlighted it among “15 Alt-Metal Albums From 2024 You Should Know.” abriction’s music explores contrasts between melody and noise, catharsis and introspection. Salvatori writes, records, and produces every element herself, maintaining a DIY ethos while pushing the boundaries of metal, pop, and noise aesthetics. Her work often reflects themes of isolation, transformation, and emotional release, delivered through expansive, layered compositions that bridge vulnerability and dissonance.
