Abel Ghekiere is a Belgian multi-instrumentalist whose sound emerges from minimalist jazz, traditional folk, and field recordings. His debut album — Voor het verdwijnt, en daarna — carried traces of sorrow and loss, an album that swayed and offered comfort. In his new music, he explores greater openness, gentleness, and euphoria. The inspiration for his intuitive, stripped-down style of songwriting comes from artists such as Nils Økland, Sufjan Stevens, and Caroline. Trained as a guitarist, Abel also brings the clarinet and banjo into the studio and onto the stage.
