Blending rock, Brazilian sambas and some pinches of rap and reggae, all these added up to romantic poetry and to a strong sense of social criticism, the band Zumbira e os Palmares proposes a new way of doing original and prejudice-free music.In this melting pot of different ideas, influences and music styles relies the essence of the band’s music. Formed in March 2000 in the Faculty of Communications of the Federal University in Porto Alegre, the band is composed by: Zumbira (guitar and acoustic guitar, vocals and lyrics), Andre Lucciano (drums), Christian Badino (bass), Guilherme Shwalm (guitar and effects), Rodrigo de Castro (Muralha) (percussion and backing vocals), Rodrigo Susin (percussion and lyrics). Having launched a demo CD in 2001 labeled Rock + Samba + Psicoledia, and having accomplished a single in the end of 2002 (Na fragilidade do Olhar – intensely broadcast through the radio in Porto Alegre), the band has conquered its space on its local music scene.
