about

Zoo Animal is a Minneapolis, MN band formed in January of 2008. It started from Holly Hansen’s (vocals, guitar) need for a bassist and drummer to perform her solo material. Long-time friend Tim Abramson obliged to play bass, and Al Swenson, a fellow community college student, agreed to play drums (Justin Korhonen has since become drummer) . As they played more, Holly became unsettled. They were playing material she wrote before the band and she felt a need and excitement to write songs specifically for this band to play, allowing them to pretty much shape their own parts. After the writing spree, it seemed an album had just been written. So, with that, she decided to commit her time to the band, instead of solo material, and they began recording with Darren Jackson in February. "Young Blood" was released on July 19th 2008.
