ZIKKIM was formed in Izmir/Turkey in February 2004 by Özgür Şengül (vocals),Barış Kayhan (guitar) Mustafa Pogos (bass guitar) and Mahmut Talha Doğruyol (drums). They name their genre as KeshCore. ZIKKIM means poison in Turkish, also it evokes smoke and alcoholic drinks. Band has started with covering Turkish arabesque songs. They even prepared a demo named "Coverma" but they didn't released it. Cigara (means joint in Turkish) track had a quickly made tune and provided an unexpected success. They released a demo album named "Kök (means root in Turkish)" including the Cigara in 3 October 2004. Afterwards, bass guitarist Mustafa has left the band. In June 2005 they opened their website ZIKKIM Online and released KÖK demo album there. In October 2005, bass guitarist Hüseyin Babaloğlu has been included to band and they started working quickly to record the new tunes. After 6 months working, in 11 March 2006, they finished recording Lugat-ı ZIKKIM (means dictionary of ZIKKIM) demo album and released it. Afterwards, ZIKKIM gave many concerts. But drummer Mahmut and bass guitarist Hüseyin left the band unwillingly. Instead of them, Erge Biçer and Olcay Kurtuluş from Turkish band; Nü joined to ZIKKIM.
