Vocal pop music based on instrumental hardcore jazz. That’s the best definition of the music you’re about to hear: the result of an inspiring collaboration between producer FLORiS and saxophone great Yuri Honing. FLORiS delved into Honings extensive discography, ripping bits and pieces of music to create new textures, using each and every element that inspired him, from a guitar riff from Wired Paradise or some piano notes from Schuberts Winterreise, to a drumbeat from an acoustic trio… Solo’s were played on top of this, and the resulting music was again cut up and edited by FLORiS, creating a foundation for a series of songs, written by five contemporary Dutch vocalists. Yuri Honings final solos are the icing on these vocal treats. Labor intensive? True. Can that be heard? No. What you’re about to hear is a rare story of continuous, multifaceted inspiration.
