Tokyo-based singer-songwriter Yuma Abe began his solo career in 2021 with the album Fantasia, released on his own label Thaian Records and internationally via Temporal Drift. He is also the frontman of never young beach, a band known for its breezy, West Coast-inspired pop. With five albums and sold-out tours — including support from artists like Devendra Banhart and Mild High Club — his band has carved out a unique place in the Japanese music scene. A longtime admirer of Haruomi Hosono, Yuma has been mentored by the legend, who also mixed parts of Fantasia. In 2023, Yuma released Surprisingly Alright, a mini-album born from deep personal reflection and friendly chats. Tracks like “Go Back” and “Domo Konnichiwa” shine with uplifting melodies and carefree energy.
