about

Yukon DeRosa is a Canadian recording artist, writer, record producer, and visual artist. Having began writing songs and poetry as a teenager, DeRosa’s first release was at the age of seventeen, as his debut EP, “Teenage Cruelty”, released in December 2017. The following year, he published his first two albums, “Teenage Purgatory” and “Homeland Oasis” to Bandcamp. These three early releases featured mostly minimalist a-cappella song structures, prior to his adoption of synthesizers and digital audio workstations from 2019 onwards. Following a hiatus, DeRosa returned in 2021 with the release of his third studio album, “Fear All Men!”. The project featured his first professional production and mixing credits along with a more refined and mature sound, featuring elements of dance, techno, trance, and industrial rock. DeRosa’s songwriting covers a wide array of topics including religion, sexuality, and mental illness, but primarily draws from his own life experiences. According to his website, DeRosa's key musical influences include Trent Reznor, Tori Amos, Nicole Dollanganger, Poe, Amanda Palmer, Shirley Manson, St. Vincent, Prince, Gordon Lightfoot, and Joni Mitchell.
