Artist
Youth Defense League was an Oi!/NYHC band from New York City from the late 1980's. They were featured on "The US of Oi!" and "New York City Hardcore, The Way It Is" compilations, they also released several solo recordings and compilations. Because their lyrics expressed fervent anti-communism alongside strong American nationalism, and also located themselves within "Europe's proud family tree," they have been criticized as sympathetic to their era's neo-Nazi movement. Photos of the band playing beneath Swastika flags and flags of the (South African pro-Apartheid far-right group) Afrikaner Resistance Movement also led some critics to this conclusion.
