Having already captured the attention of the british press with a feature in Fault magazine, released a split EP cassette with Fm.face on Digitalis recordings, another 7" release on Chicago's hip Rococo records and played numerous shows including the Figment Festival on Governor's Island, Brooklyn's noisy dark-pop duo Young Boys have made quite a bang for a band only formed at the beginning of 2009. Started by just David McDaniel (formerly of The Spells with experimental surrealist Michael Berg) and a drum machine, Young Boys expanded their sound when he met bassist and collaborator Lee Lichtsinn. With similar influences as wide-ranging as Love & Rockets, Scott Walker and Suicide, they were ready to take on New York. Most often compared to the almighty gods of noise The Jesus and Mary Chain, Young Boys describe themselves as "just pop songs really, like The Ramones with feedback". Their debut seven-inch, recorded at LOUIS V E.S.P. an art gallery/studio, and home to 3/4 of the band, is out now on Chicago's Rococo Records in a numbered edition of 500. McDaniel and Lichstinn first recorded the track in their original two-piece incarnation backed by a drum machine, but the band dissolved shortly thereafter; when they reconciled a year later, they added synth player Ethan Miller and Scott Kiernan on drums as heard on the new record. http://www.myspace.com/killyoungboys User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
