Young K. Biography Young K has been recording studio music since he was 17 years old. He recorded his 1st studio song with a group called Smokas Playaz Hustlaz in 1997. He soon experienced some life changes in 1998. He and his group released an indie album called Midwest Gangsta recorded in Avanti studios in 1998. After that the group broke up when group members started having kids and getting jobs. Everyone in the group left the hip hop scene but except young K. He continued writing new music while trying to get his group back together but his plans were soon derailed when Young K went to jail for a year. While locked up, he pondered how he was going to change his life for the better. Soon after his release, he met his friend now manager Ernest “DJ Boss” Bell in 2005 at a job they worked together. After hearing Young K’s rap style and CD DJ Boss wanted him to be featured on a song of his. After that, the C.E.O. of the Boss’ worked for wanted to sign young K and did. He released his 2006 mixtape “No Boundaries” followed up by his Thug Congregation Mixtape (datpliff.com) hosted by DJ Cuddy from Hot 104.1. That album scored young K a distribution deal with Chicago music library. He went back in the studio ready to release his 2nd album The Truth Based on a True Story in 2009. After shopping the first album he scored big again with a deal with Deka Record selling 13,000 units. After the success of that album, he wanted the show love back to St. Louis. He gath
