Artist
Xue Wei, a violinist, was born in 1963. At first, he was under the instruction of his teacher, Teng Maolong. Afterwards he was strictly trained by, Jin Zhongpin, Chen Xinzhi, Tan Shuzhen, and Zheng Shisheng. With Xue Wei Having a good musical foundation, Xue won prizes in succession in China National Violin Competition in 1981, and Carl Flesch International Violin Competition in 1982. In 1983, Xue was enrolled by Central Conservatory of Music, and became a student of Professor Lin Yaoji. Two years later, he went to Britain to further his education. In 1986, he won the silver medal in the Tchaiovsky Violin Competition in Moscow. Two weeks later, he returned to London to participate in the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition. He won all of the prizes, including the Sonata Performance Prize, orchestra and audience prize. In the same year, he won British annual prize for young soloists. After Xue Wei won many prizes, he also gained great recognition. In a article written in the famous British magazine Gramophone it called him "one of the most outstanding violinists nowadays". The Guardian regarded him as "an invincible performer, with extraordinary skills, excellent presentation capability, and high variety. "He often cooperated with every big orchestra in Britain, and was active in the area of European music and his records were highly regarded.
