Witchdoctor Wise, an MC for cult underground Brighton-based collective Lost Souls and the London/Brighton/Poland-based Skillmega crew, has completed his long-awaited debut solo album, 'Trapped in the Asylum', to be released on new imprint Heroic Records in the spring of 2007. While many hiphop 'albums' are in reality just a compilation of random tracks, 'Trapped in the Asylum' was conceived as a self-contained album from the start, which can be listened to from start to finish as a cohesive whole, and which takes the listener on a journey going from traditional hip hop bangers, through irresistible crossover party hits, on to grimy darkness, and finally into a period of mellow reflection and musical experimentation. A wide range of UK production's finest new hopes were enlisted to achieve this eclectic feel, including 184 (Last Minute Records), Tom Caruana (The Menagerie's 'Wild Kingdom' LP, Wordsmith's 'Roadman Showcase' LP, Breakin' Bread), Steve Clear (Rup the Cnut's 'Rup on Zebra' LP), The Evil Sun (HP - 'Double Damage'), Biji Talls (Lost Souls, Greenkeepers), and Rob Crespo (Monkeysons), as well as Polish superstar producer/MC OSTR (Asfalt records). Witchdoctor Wise used this incredibly talented array of beatsmiths to create a very varied soundscape for his equally disparate range of subject matters, ensuring that the listener's attention is held fast for every single minute of the hour-long album.
