Witch Club Satan play occult, feminist black metal with experimental layerings of punk, pop and jazz. The power trio from Norway originally began as a theatre concept, and consists of Johanna Holt Kleive (drums), Nikoline Spjelkavik (guitar) and Victoria Fredrikke Schou Røising (bass), and started playing instruments only months before the band premiered in June 2022 with a live show and the single “Hysteria”. Their black metal is inspired by the 80s sound of the genre, before there were any templates or rules for the genre. Witch Club Satan was mentored by Necrobutcher of Mayhem , who calls them “a breath of fresh air” and “what the black metal scene needs right now”.
