William Gokelman is an Associate Professor in the University of the Incarnate Word Music Department, and Director of Liturgical Music for the Campus Ministry. Mr. Gokelman directs the UIW Chorale and Madrigals, teaches piano, vocal coaching and accompanying, and conducting. Mr. Gokelman also serves as musical director for the Opera Scenes and for musical productions of the Theater Arts Department. As director of Liturgical Music, and a member of the Liturgical Commission, Mr. Gokelman directs the UIW Chapel Choir, develops and trains cantors, and provides piano and organ music for all liturgical celebrations on campus. Mr. Gokelman is an active clinician, presenting workshops locally and nationally in the areas of Liturgical Music, Vocal Coaching for Cantors, Choral Techniques, Techniques for Lectors, and Wedding Preparation and Music. Mr. Gokelman has performed as pianist for many National Association of Pastoral Musicians and Texas Choral Directors Association workshops and concerts. He is active as an arranger, performer, composer, and recording artist with various liturgical and Christian performer/composers. Mr. Gokelman is a keyboard artist with the San Antonio Symphony, and frequently performs chamber music recitals with orchestra members. Mr. Gokelman received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Incarnate Word College, where he was awarded the Amy Freeman Lee Award for the Fine Arts and Humanities.
