White Sister was one of those bands that never quite achieved the success it deserved. Despite being signed to a major label, working with a well-known producer and writing songs that bettered their more well-known peers on more than one occasion, vocalist/bassist Dennis Churchill-Dries and company struggled to keep their heads above water throughout most of the Eighties. White Sister released two albums, a self-titled debut – produced by Angel’s Gregg Giuffria - and ‘Fashion by Passion’. The music, inspired by Toto, Styx and Angel, was heavy pomp rock (on the first album) and typical late 80s, keyboards oriented AOR/MELODIC ROCK/POMP on the second album. By 1990, three quarters of the group had reorganized under the moniker Tattoo Rodeo, and armed with a leaner, bluesier sound – a la Tesla and Badlands – they signed with Atlantic Records. The band was formed in 1980 and sadly they split a short time later in 1984 The band got back together in 2008 and play some shows here and there. Former drummer Richard Wright unfortunately passed away in June 2006. An awesome talent taken away from us way too soon.
