White Life is a dance-oriented pop group conceived in 2010 by Jonathan Ehrens. Ehrens wrote and recorded demos in his small Baltimore apartment, and soon asked his sister, Emily, to share some vocal duties on the demos. After forming a live version of the band, White Life's first show was Baltimore's Whartscape festival in 2010. Following this, White Life was given a small recording budget and recorded their self-titled LP at Beat Babies studios in suburban Maryland. The record involved many local figureheads in the Baltimore music scene; including Jenn Wasner from Wye Oak, Chris Freeland of Oxes, and Andrew Bernstein of the Dan Deacon Ensemble. Jon Ehrens' previous efforts include The Art Department, who's Paperwork/Birdwork album was named one of the Top 10 albums from Baltimore in 2010 by the Baltimore City Paper.
