Manchester-based droners Gnod & NY trio White Hills recorded together album ‘Aquarian Downer’ — self-released CD-R, pressed in limited edition of 50 copies. Sold on White Hills UK tour. ‘Belonging’ is the opener track and delivers guitar FX that emerge slowly on the background in a kind of space-rock style but noisy. Putting this track loud is an amazing wall of sound. Ambient synth washes, improv piano swirls together with a cascade of congas percussion on the second track ‘Hard Butter Reality, is closed to the Krautrock sound create a hypnotic warm atmosphere. ‘Subordinate Contact’ is a trip of soft congas percussion and drones that takes the listener to a dreamy world. ‘Aquarian Downer’ opens very quite with some people voices and in a sudden the guitar burst an amplifier sound and heavy drums repeat a hard beat while the guitars become yelling. ‘When You Are Old’ that close this record consists in modular synth penetrations and dronebuzz, quiet hypnotic and chaotic as well.
