about

A collaboration between Mark Ivey and Mike Chrystal which began in the late 1970s. The band that was known as The Virgins became the White Elephants on the first of January 1983. In some circles it kind of means the same thing, was an observation made by RAM magazine at the time. The White Elephants enjoyed? a turbulent history both internally and also being banned from up to 20 different venues at different times. Well they had to keep within the spirit of the movement, didn't they? When you are outspoken you often receive unwanted attention. When you are drunk you are likely to drop a speaker box through a bottleshop window aren't you? Official motto: "Like what you like, enjoy what you enjoy, don't be afraid to make slurping sounds, and don't take crap from anybody" The White Elephants formed and reformed on many occasions, with only a sparse discography.
