Artist
Whistling Jack Smith is not a real person. A record called "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman" was recorded and released in 1967 and was performed by various studio musicians, including John O'Neill of the Mike Sammes Singers, who did the whistling. "Whistling Jack Smith", a play on a real singer named Whispering Jack Smith, was chosen as a front for the performers, but when the record became an unexpected hit, the producer needed someone to "perform" as Whistling Jack Smith on TV and other media outlets. The person chosen was Billy Moeller, a model/actor, and he duly performed as Whistling Jack Smith by miming to the record on various occasions.
