about

"Whimsical is a shoegaze/dreampop band formed in 1999. This band drew on inspiration from many other classic shoegaze bands, such as Slowdive, Ride, My Bloody Valentine & Cocteau Twins, but truly have a unique sound of their own. A "wall of sound", as some would say. Neil Burkdoll originally started writing riffs for these songs back in 1995, but wasn't sure who he would call on to help bring those songs to life. Krissy and Neil were great friends, who shared the same passion for music. Neil approached her with the idea of singing for a few songs that he had written. Mark, another great friend of Neil & Krissy, helped to complete the core of the lineup & "Whimsical" was born in 1999. While these three members were a constant during the life of "Whimsical", the bass & drum lineup had a few changes over the years. Joe & Tim were the original bassist and drummer when the band first formed - other past members included Brian, Andy, and Mike. They recorded a demo in late 1999 and were then able to sign with "Seraph Records." After signing, they went on to record a full length album for Seraph in 2000 called "Setting Suns Are Semi-Circles." Whimsical continued to write songs during this time, and recorded another 2 song demo in 2002. They played many shows in Chicago until 2004 & then began recording their 2nd album. Unfortunately this
