Weval is a duo of electronic music producers from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The name Weval is derived from the Dutch word waterval, which - rather unsurprisingly - translates as 'waterfall'. It is, as a matter of fact, not too bad an attempt to sum up their work in mere semantics given the susurrus vibe of their sound. Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte are the brains behind the project. They met whilst working in the film industry in 2010, and the young Dutch producers here have successfully crafted a sedated, deep sound. Weval released their debut Half Age EP in 2013. They have since released a big pile of singles and EPs, as well as four full-length efforts: Weval (2016), The Weight (2019), Remember (2023) and Chorophobia (2025).
