Artist
Westwood & Willow is an emo folk duo from San Francisco, CA comprised of brothers Kevin (songwriting, vocals, guitar) and Sean E. (bass, vocals, percussion) Sullivan. The music carries an emphasis on lyrics and organic musicianship showing traces of Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Tupac and Morrissey while retaining a sound that is contemporary in an electronic-drenched world. They have spread their sound across the bay area and beyond from small cafes and art spaces to renowned venues like Bottom of the Hill (where they had their album release and later opened for folk legend Michael Hurley). Their full length album was recorded entirely on their own and only mastered and duplicated by other hands. All songs, lyrics, artwork, and layout were done by Sean and Kevin, showing testament to the spirit of the modern independent artist. 2010 not only saw the release of their first full length album but a slot on San Jose's Left Coast Live music festival alongside headliners Ok Go, Yo La Tengo, and Neon Trees. They then went on an independently booked two week tour across the West Coast through CA, OR, WA, and Vancouver, CAN where they narrowly escaped arrest at the border for having instruments and merchandise in their trunk. Farther touring and more visits to the wonderful states of the west coast are always in the works. Their music has been featured on Palo Alto based television show "American Songwriter", Mevio.com's "Mevio Underground", and the The Bay Bridge's Monthly Mix Pod
