West End Crooks were a street punk rock band originating from the west side of Phoenix, Arizona. Formed in 1999 by Fruity McMetcalf and Kolby Waters, their early years were uneventful and guided by a lead singer who's ego outweighed his ability to work with a band. There was also this guy, Mike, the original drummer for about 6 months, who whined and complained alot, and eventually quit. With two guitar players, no drummer and no bass player, one magical evening, Kolby met Danny American, a short, attractive young ginger who's musical talents only began with the six string. As luck had, Danny just happened to be good friends with a super-band-geek drummer, Micah Elliot, and the four got together one cold evening in a Mexican's barn, where they tested out some of the songs Kolby and Fruity McMetcalf had been writing. The virgin practice was a tremendous success. Micah's passion and intensity on the drums mimicked the ferocity and thunderous pounding of a runaway stampede. Kolby's screaming rock n' roll riffs roared acrossed his frets like a roller coaster unhinged from its tracks. And Danny, the very soul of the West End Crooks brand of punk rock, funktafied every slap, and injected the flavor directly into the heart of the music. As for Fruity, well, he eventually decided that the trio didn't fit his "brand" of punk rock, and one evening, after mentioning that the black beanie with a grey stripe across it that Micah was wearing wasn't "punk" enough for his tastes, Fruity McMe
