about

Wendy Stewart (born and raised in Edinburgh) is a Scottish harpist, singer, and composer. As a player and singer, she re-interprets traditional material in a historically informed yet refreshing way. During the 1990s, she was a member of Ceolbeg. She began performing at Clarsach Society gatherings, local and national Mods and picking up gigs as an accompanist to Gaelic singers at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. After finishing a Zoology degree and moving to North West England, she joined bands including Donald Maguire’s Occasional Band, and Fat Hen, playing music from all over the world. A return to Edinburgh in 1990, saw her joining Ceolbeg. After the band split in the early 2000s, Stewart’s work as a performer and composer has continued with a variety of solo and collaborative projects.
