After self-recording music and film scores under various names since 2007, self-taught overdubbist, Jason Aud, established Weird Artifacts in 2017. At that time, two previous works, As Is The Sun (2009) & Snakes (2012), were re-released under the WA name. Following 3 years of spare-time recording, a self-titled album, Weird Artifacts, was completed in 2018. A follow-up album titled Squirmer was announced on September 9, 2020, with the release of the lead single “Arms” and its b-side “Glassware” - the album was officially released on September 25. The next WA project came in early 2023 with the Bronze Opportunity EP, a collection of six previously unreleased and/or unfinished tracks from various time periods in Jason’s recording career, some nearly ten years old. Beginnings: In 2007, Jason started recording lo-fi music with a Tascam 4-track under the name Jason The Swamp. That same year he finished his first full-length, Things, graciously hand-made and released by Isaac Arms on his short-lived CDR label, Pop! Monster Records. After finding a like-minded online community of DIY music makers, in 2008 he re-released Things on Rack & Ruin Records (2008-2011). Notable Rack & Ruin alumni include Dylan Ettinger, Dog Bite, & pre-No Monster Club project, Dublin Duck Dispensary. Eventually ditching the 4-track, he would put out three more albums on Rack & Ruin, including 2009's As Is The Sun, a loose concept album from the perspective of a lone figure lost in some wilderness.
