Weekend Martyr is an Italian alternative rock band formed in Livorno in 2019. The group was initially established by Riccardo Prianti (multi-instrumentalist) and Elia Lazzerini (drummer), later joined by Giulio Maria. Their debut album, self-titled "Weekend Martyr," was recorded in 2019 and released through Aloch Dischi and Orfan Records. This album was characterized by its lo-fi recordings and a mix of punk, DIY ethics, glam rock, and acidic tones, produced by Niccolò Mazzantini of Appaloosa. In 2021, Weekend Martyr released their second album, "Wires," a self-produced work at Yeti Studio. This album marked a shift towards more layered sounds with the significant use of synthesizers, incorporating 70s organs and distorted pianos, pushing their garage rock style towards more psychedelic and acidic territories. The band's latest album, "Gastrin," released on January 26, 2024, shows a further evolution in their sound. Produced by Marco Fasolo (known for his work with Jennifer Gentle and I Hate My Village), this album explores darker and more visceral themes. "Gastrin" blends post-punk roots with 70s psychedelia and 90s alternative rock influences, creating a unique and dynamic sound. Weekend Martyr draws inspiration from a range of influences including Pavement and Pixies. Their music often oscillates between spontaneous punk energy and more deliberate, visionary compositions. This stylistic diversity is evident in their ability to seamlessly integrate minimalistic, hypnotic
