We Came as Romans (often abbreviated as WCAR) are an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan. The band was formed in 2005 and has undergone several line-up changes. They signed with Equal Vision Records in 2009 and later moved to SharpTone Records in 2016. We Came as Romans have released seven studio albums: "To Plant a Seed" (2009), "Understanding What We've Grown to Be" (2011), "Tracing Back Roots" (2013), "We Came as Romans" (2015), "Cold Like War" (2017), "Darkbloom" (2022), and "All Is Beautiful... Because We're Doomed" (2025), as well as two EPs released in 2008, "Demonstrations" and "Dreams". The band was formed in August 2005 by high school classmates Sean Zelda, Dave Stephens, Jonny Nabors, Mark Myatt and Joshua Moore under the name This Emergency. In their early period Stephens performed guitar, keyboards and backing vocals. The group performed locally in the Detroit metropolitan area. Nabors left the band in November 2005 and was replaced by Sean Daly. Zelda left in June 2006 to pursue studies at the University of Michigan. Later that year vocalist Larry Clark joined, and the band adopted the name We Came as Romans. After Clark departed in late 2007, Chris Moore became the band’s vocalist and subsequently took on most lyric-writing duties. The band released their first EP, "Demonstrations", which was distributed at concerts and through their website. Moore left in 2008 and was replaced by vocalist Kyle Pavone.
