Wayne Richards has spent a lifetime traveling and putting his experiences to song. From the south with time in Louisiana, he graduated from Lake Oswego(Oregon) High School in 1966 and attended Portland State. Having failed out of college for non-attendance, he was drafted into the US Army and served 6 years with one tour in Vietnam(1969-70). As a draftee he did land on his feet with selection to Officer Candidate School and trained as a pilot in the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog aircraft. He flew combat missions in this observation plane over Southeast Asia. Released from military service as a Captain, he spent sometime in Texas and in Mexico which he really enjoyed. These periods of his life contributed to his song writing talents. Currently he lives south of Portland, Oregon. His band, Wayne Richards Southern Nights, has 4 released CD's(Songwriter, Americana 2, Out of the Blue, Notes From A Journal) and another is in post-production. Also, he plays in a praise band, Flipside, on Sundays at Lake Oswego United Methodist Church with at least one other Southern Nights band member. For 22 years he has been putting on the annual Wayne's World Music Event which features many talented artists and groups.
