Just who is WALKER, THERE IS NO PATH...? Well it depends on whom you ask... To some he’s a drug riddled, dance fuelled monster – a spiritual beast of epic proportions. To others (hmmm, let’s face it probably everyone) it’s Me, Mike Morritt from a small town in North Yorkshire. Starting off in the late nineties tired of Djing ‘other folks’ tunes, me and my pal Russ Watson (guitar) sculpted the primordial JUMA from bits of cassette tape and Valium whilst spending our evenings in the inspirational surroundings of Back to Basics in Leeds. It was the turn of the millennium; the club scene was waning and the acid house vibe was giving way to a more corporate and fashion-orientated hoi-te-toi scene. The original JUMA animal danced to the beat of an acoustic duo with the two scientists (Russ and I) sharing the song writing process in various states of disrepair in a tiny flat above a bookies. The Monkey Tapes, were created, which were basically an extended jam of five tunes that compounded the dance and rock/indie influences of the two along with the strange transmittance of live Horse races below picked up by a decrepit stereo. From this, the fully fledged Juma was born (www.myspace.com/jumaband), however after 3 eps, 5 years of endlessly plugging the scene & playing toilet venues around the country, the band imploded amidst a plethora of quarrels, flying fists and accusations of drug abuse.
