Vox Flatus is an artist collective formed in Pieksämäki, Finland 1990. The group's idea is to give a right to perform under the name Vox Flatus for like-minded people. The amount of people with the right to perform under the name is now over 50. Besides musicans the group consists of theater and fine arts professionals. Vox Flatus' music has often been described as punk, but their music could also be categorized as beeing anything from hardcore to bossa nova like sentimental mood music. The members of the band themselves have described their music as beeing uncategorized. They have also gained some attention by using unorthodox istruments in addition to traditional rock instruments in their music. The band have used such devices as instruments as oil barrels, vacuum cleaners, food mixers, etc. In addition to the music the group is known for the Vox Flatus theater and arranging the late Läsnä rock festival. The members of the band have been seen in other bands such as Mothers Against Sex Association, Änkilä, Sylvi, Mana Mana, Seppälä, Mustakaapu, International Auto, Tuomas Henrikin Jeesuksen Kristuksen Bändi, Tommi Saha ja Vapaat Kuviot, Kalsaripaita, Yhdyskuntajäte, Teinihuumorin Ystävät ja Burana.
