Artist
Voormann & Friends is actually the name of the German Grammy Award-winning artist, producer, and session musician Klaus Voormann's solo project. Klaus was born in Berlin in April 1938. He met The Beatles during their time in Hamburg in the early 1960s, and moved to London to live in their flat there with George Harrison and Ringo Starr after John Lennon and Paul McCartney moved out to be with their respective partners. As a musician, he is known for being the bassist for Manfred Mann from 1966 to 1969, and as as a producer is noted for association with the band Trio. He is perhaps best recognised for the artwork he designed for the cover of Revolver, The Beatles' 7th studio album, for which he won a Grammy. He released his debut album, A Sideman's Journey, in 2009. On it appear many notable musicians, including the two living former Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Cat Stevens (or Yusuf Islam, as he's nowadays properly known) also lends his talents to the album.
