Electro noise beat confusion Formed in 2002, Viva Stereo aimed to provide a soundtrack to Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Weekends are important to Viva Stereo but with the highs come the inevitable lows of Sunday soul searching and the thought of Monday morning back at work. Viva Stereo pride themslves on being a band that are difficult to pigeonhole with influences throughout the genres of folk, electro, indie, punk, hip hop, kraut rock and psychedelia. Part of Fife’s Fence Collective which also includes King Creosote, U.N.P.O.C, James Yorkston and Pictish Trail, the band have reinforced these links by including many Fence artists as guests ontheir albums. In addition they share the same live drummer as King Creosote. Thorughout 2002-2003, Viva Stereo released three EP’s through their own Much Better Records imprint whilst recording their debut album, ‘Optimism is Not a Curse’. This was released in 2004 and featured contributions from Malcolm Middleton (Arab Strap), Paul Tierney( Odeon Beat Club and King Creosote. The album was again released through their own label and sold 1000 copies through very little promotion and gigs organised around the country by the band. In 2005 the band followed this up by releasing their second album ‘Patterns of Behaviour’ which again included guest contributions from Pictish Trail/Candythief(Fence Collective) and Tara Mascara(Language of Flowers). 2006 saw the release of a ‘Rarities’ compilation which meant the band had comm
