Artist
Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Vitto Meirelles was rocked by the interbreeding characterizing his culture and impregnating his roots and his history. His musical awakening, his taste, his knowledge, are born from the attention he pays since his earliest childhood, to the culture of his country. He then bathed in the rhythms, melodies and poems of all those who made the history of Brazilian music. Singer, composer, performer, multi-instrumentalist, he tirelessly seeks new harmonies, traveling in a plural universe where there are no boundaries between samba, funk, pop, bossa, jazz, classical, popular and traditional music. His lyrics are intimate, exuberant and realistic. His deep and poetic singing with rich and airy melodies, his frenetic and bewitching rhythms, make us navigate between samba, jazz and tribal resonances. His sonic and harmonic research of great finesse, makes him an undisputed master of current Brazilian music. Vitto, whose work is prolific, has composed for cinema, theater and classical guitar. Vitto Meirelles died too prematurely, alas, in his fifty-sixth year in Paris. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
