Virginia Lee (27 June 1927 β 7 January 1990) was a South African singer of light music. Virginia Lee was the first female South African singer to be awarded a Gold Record, which she received on 15 December 1965 for her hit "Goodbye My Love", after reaching the equivalent of one million sales. She was also the first artist to achieve the distinction of releasing a locally produced record internationally. Goodbye My Love was released in England, the Netherlands, and Germany under the PYE label, with 100,000 copies pre-ordered.
