Artist
Please note: The most commonly used spelling for this collaboration is now Spinvis / Vinkenoog. Please scrobble accordingly. Spinvis (pseudonym of Erik de Jong) is a Dutch musician, songwriter, singer and (sometimes) sample artist. Simon Vinkenoog (1928-2009) was a famous Dutch writer, beat poet and voice of the hippie generation. Spinvis and his band were closely associated with Vinkenoog in the final years of his life, around 2006-2008. They released the album Ja! (2006) under the moniker Vinkenoog / Spinvis Combo and played a string of live shows, including special ones for Holland's travelling performing arts festival, De Parade. In 2008 they released the samples album Ritmebox, this time credited to Vinkenoog Spinvis, (or Vinkenoog-Spinvis), celebrating the Vinkenoog's 80th birthday. An EP was offered as a free download, featuring seven tracks from the album. Simon Vinkenoog passed away on 12 July 2009, aged 80. Today, the music of Spinvis and Vinkenoog is listed on streaming platforms under Spinvis / Vinkenoog, which explains why most of the scrobbles end up here now.
