Vincent Misonne, born about 1490 and died on April 5, 1550, was originally from Cambrai. After being a choirboy and a vicar at the Metropolitan Church of Cambrai , he resided in Rome from 1515 to 1519 as an Apostolic Notary under Pope Leo X Medici , an esthete and cultivated, the greatest patron of all the popes. It was during this stay in Rome that the choir of Cambrai made himself known. His works, three masses and two motets with four voices, are marked by a clever counterpoint that recalls that of the full fifteenth century. Vincent Misonne made a second visit to Rome (probably between 1524 and 1531), of which there are still few traces, however significant. They were no longer related to Leo X., but to the second Pope Medici, his cousin Clement VII (26.5.1478, Florence, β 25.9.1534, Rome). According to Johan Guiton, "it is the understanding of Misonne's diplomatic activity that enlightened his real artistic contribution, exploiting elements of life collected on a singular character in view of the links he maintained between the archdiocese of Cambrai and the Pontifical City, the two most prestigious musical institutions of the time. " Misonne was closely associated with the Cathedral of Cambrai. He probably began his musical career there and returned there on the death of Leo X in 1521 , remaining until recalled to Rome by Clement VII in 1524 . However, Misonne's departure appears to have been delayed by an arrest for debts possibly incurred when he acted as pro
