Vince Tampio is a multifaceted musician primarily working as performer and composer/arranger in the Hudson Valley Region and Capital District of New York State. Vince grew up in Silver Creek, New York; a small coastal village off Lake Erie. He began studying trumpet (gifted to Vince by a family friend) in Elementary School at Silver Creek Central. Vince was initially trained through use of classical method books: Rubank, Arbans, etc... which provided a solid foundation as well as technical approach to musical execution on trumpet. Finding classical literature stiff, young Vince gravitated towards more flexible Jazz repertoire. Continuing his studies through Middle and High Schools, he learned Classical and Jazz trumpet simultaneously He studied trumpet privately with local musicians Marc Klose and John Maguda. Vince explored other school ensembles, All County invitationals, and Area All State festivals excelling in both genres. Outside school he joined local bands ranging from March and Symphonic works to Jazz and Pop arrangements. After graduating from Silver Creek Central High School June 2007, Vince relocated across New York state to attend college at SUNY New Paltz. Studying modern Jazz techniques privately with Rebecca Coupe Franks, Vince enrolled majoring in Music, concentrating on Jazz Study through the trumpet.
