Village of Savoonga was founded 1991 in Weilheim, Germany by Markus Acher (The Notwist) and Christoph Merk (Kollaps label) with the aim "to record noise". As Wolfgang Petters (Hausmusik label) had a 4 track recorder and cooked for both of them he was quickly accepted as a new band member.
