Viljami Valldén (b. 1999) is a sound artist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, recordist, listener, lyricist and musicologist from Helsinki. In their solo efforts Valldén mainly works with field and domestic recordings. They take an interest in the magical in the mundane, the otherworldly of the ordinary. As a part of rock group Yves Saint their musical and lyrical work strives to display and find balance between the dichotomies present in rock music – composed and improvised, primitive and sophisticated, relatable and alienating, progressive and conservative and so on. Valldén has so far released two solo records and two with Yves Saint. The latest of these are Hedgehog’s dilemma (2021) and Alla tulinen aava (2021). In addition they have contributed DJ mixes/longform collages for radio, constituted half of the short-lived noise-/performance group Vyöt Iäiset and appeared on albums by the likes of Aatos Ketvel and Bakery of Pekka.
