"Born in Jaipur on August 1st, 1957, Vikas Gupta has had the opportunity of being imparted rigorous training and systematic education in "Sitar-recital" by great luminaries and maestros like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Lt. Shri Damodar Lal Kabra, and Smt. Annapoorna Devi He was initiated in music at a very young age of five with lessons in vocal music at the feet of Lt. Shri Man Mohan Bhatt. Subsequently, at an age of 10 he took to instrumental music (Sitar) with Shri Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. Later in 1974, he became the disciple of Shri Damodar Lal Kabra of Jodhpur where he received the advanced training in "Sitar-recital" and was well groomed under his able guidance. He went to Smt. Annapoorna Devi where he learnt subtle techniques of "Sitar-recital". Added to the superb education of both music and engineering, he is an accomplished player of sitar in the new generation of artistes, with "A" grade of A.I.R. and Doordarshan programmes, he has extensively played both in India and abroad.
