Vidar Vang (b. 1976) is a Norwegian songwriter and musician. He grew up in Bjerkvik, a small town above the Arctic Circle in Northern Norway, and started to write songs in his late teens. In 1998, he released «Blue», his unofficial debut album, recorded in his hometown. The album was sold at numerous acoustic shows throughout Northern Norway. In August 2000, Vidar moved to Oslo. The following year he played shows at the Norwegian Wood festival, Øya and by:Larm, and in August 2001 he signed his first major label deal, with EMI. In September 2002, Vidar released his official debut album, «Rodeo», produced by Seasick Steve and Cato «Salsa» Thomassen. «Rodeo» got rave reviews and was hailed as one of 2002’s best Norwegian rock albums. It also received a Norwegian Grammy nomination. Since, Vidar Vang has released four albums: «Stand Up Straight» (2004), «Vidar Vang» (2006), «Sleepless Songs» (2010) and «Sidewalk Silhouettes» (2012).
