Artist
Victory Mansion is the pseudonym for artist/musician Nico Jordan of the band Severe Severe. Born in Saratoga Springs, NY. and raised in Memphis, TN., Jordan has been writing and recording music under the name Victory Mansion since 1997. Relocating to Los Angeles in 1999, Nico documented his initial year of living there through songs he wrote and recorded on an analog tape machine in his studio apartment. The songs were compiled and eventually became his first solo release titled "The Year is Nitey Nite". The Album was self released in 2000 and distributed in limited quantities with help from The Cortical Foundation, who also mastered the recording. The following year saw the release of Victory Mansion's second album "For an Unknown Friend", recorded by Greg Burns of Red Sparowes and Halifax Pier. The album showcases a more refined, pop influenced sound in comparison to the lo-fi, experimental sounds of "The Year is Nitey Nite". Greg Burns also plays bass on the tracks "Pardon our Dust" and "To Transform Light into Flame". The track "Black Forest" was featured on Makeshift Music compilation #3 along with a diverse array of Memphis based artists including Snowglobe, MouseRocket and Reigning Sound.
