Vicente Martínez (Torremocha de Jiloca, c. 1736 - Albarracín, July 1801) was a Spanish composer and master of chapel active in the Cathedral of Albarracín. In all likelihood, he was trained in the choir of infants of the Cathedral of Teruel, under the teaching of Luis Pastor. He studied the priestly career while perfecting his musical knowledge. The musicologist Saldoni gives as the date of inauguration of the position of chapel master of the Cathedral of Albarracín by Vicente Martínez on June 19, 1764.2 The date seems appropriate, since October 3 "it was presented for the benefit of Mtro. de Capilla and was perpetuated to be able to order Vicente Martínez."1 Martínez would be about 27 or 28 years old when he took office. He remained in office until the beginning of 1793, retiring for unknown reasons. Saldoni gives as Martínez's successor to the tenor Antonio Sambola; wrong fact, since on July 2, 1784 Martínez was still a chapel master and on August 19 they named Antonio Sebastián bajonista and Antonio Sambola tenor. Antonino Sámbola in 1792 would have the same position of tenor in the chapel of the Cathedral of Lleida and not the position of chapel master as Saldoni said.
