Vertigo Phase is the solo project of California-born Nick B, a musician and composer of over ten years. While the 'band' has existed for several years in numerous iterations, the most recent subset brought with it a significant change in musical direction. Whereas previously, the music focused around atmospheric and experimental aspects, primarily around the genre of psychedelic rock, this new shift has brought the focus onto that of a death metal foundation, incorporating experimental and progressive elements into the sound. The name 'Vertigo Phase' refers to the feeling of dizziness at heights as being a passing event, rather than a lifelong actuality. This symbolizes a belief that all of the fears in one's life are but passing dreams. The same philosophical pondering led to the creation of VP's first album, "Primeval", a concept album featuring symbolism and rationalizations of the human persona in its quest for power.
