about

Vernon Walker was the founder and dominate songwriter, along with Kenny Miller, of late 80's punk band, The Banzai Fuzz Kings. The Banzai Fuzz Kings went on to release a total of 5 albums before internal conflict tore the band apart. In 1990 Vernon began writing the songs that would later be on his debut solo album. That solo, The Black And White Tape was released in 1991 by Stray Dog Records. It included a song, "39 Men", that was suppose to be on the 6th Fuzz King release, Upside The Head, that never happened due to the internal conflict. The Black And White Tapes fulfilled Vernon's contract obligations with Stray Dog Records, the home of The Banzai Fuzz Kings, so following his release he was free to search out other record labels. He eventually found a home at Egomaniac Tunes. Egomaniac released Vernon's follow release titled Nice Guys Finish Last. Vernon wrote and perfomed all the songs on both of his releases, except for "39 Men" which featured the rest of The Banzai Fuzz Kings, Kenny Miller and Calvan Cook. "Leaving Look" featured Kenny's sister Cindy Miller on vocals. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
