Velveteens is an indie pop band. They describe their sound as "Sad girl electro chamber pop." Formed in the summer of 2012, Velveteens is a fairly young band. Anna and Catherine Wolk, sisters, are both classically trained in violin and cello respectively. After leaving their former band due to creative differences they turned to drummer Devon Fontaine to add to their sisterly dynamic. A friend from college with roots in both indie rock and hip-hop, he had experience starring in an off Broadway production. Instantly they formed a tight knit band fusing their many influences; from Catherine’s obsessions with sixties girl bands and Morrissey, Anna’s strong background in classical theory, and Devon’s love of hip-hop. Along with their poetic lyricism, haunting harmonies and unusual instrumentation, they form a captivating sound.
