Veenendaal/Kneer/Sun Albert van Veenendaal: (prepared) piano Meinrad Kneer: double bass Yonga Sun: drums During some inspiring duo encounters, Meinrad Kneer and Albert van Veenendaal discovered that their concepts of improvisation and interplay were very similar. Very naturally the desire came up to establish a piano trio in which they could manifest their musical ideas. Their starting point was to play original material in which composition and improvisation would merge organically. To achieve this, they use a vast vocabulary of improvisation techniques. The young drummer Yonga Sun turned out to be the perfect addition. These three authentic musicians allow themselves to be guided by their intuition and inspiration. Time and again they stand amazed how diverse a composition can sound. Their performances are lead by a strong sense of shape and groove and can be described as epical musical adventures. The Players: Albert van Veenendaal studied piano at the Amsterdam Conservatory. In 1982 he won the Meervaart Jazz Competition and has since been working with many national and international jazz-, world- and classical musicians throughout all of Europe. He founded various groups of his own as well as playing solo concerts. He composed for and accompanied theatre- and dance companies and worked as composer/arranger/producer for many CD-projects.
