Taking cues from alternative, shoegaze, and stoner rock, Vaureen's sound ranges from airy to ominous. The band formed in 2011 when co-workers Andrea Horne and Marianne Do began playing music together. Cale Hand joined the band in 2015, and the following year they released Violence, a 3-song EP which has been described as "a spacey onslaught of melodic feedback."
