Vassilis Hadjinicoloau (Βασίλης Χατζηνικολάου) is a Greek composer, conductor, and cantor known for his wide-ranging exploration of modern classical, traditional, Western classical, and Byzantine chant. Originally from Thessaloniki, he studied in both Greece and Montreal, Canada, earning advanced degrees in composition, voice, and choral direction. During his decade in Montreal, Hadjinicoloau became highly regarded within the Greek community across North America for his acclaimed adaptations of Byzantine Chant for English-speaking audiences, resulting in eight albums. Returning to Greece in 1990, he collaborated with Dionysis Savvopoulosas both pianist and conductor, and has since remained active in concerts, recordings, and productions alongside leading figures of the Greek music scene. Hadjinicoloau has released several albums featuring his compositions and arrangements, praised for blending tradition with contemporary expression.
